Mollywood’s 2026 lineup has delivered its fair share of highs and lows. From record-breaking family dramas to unexpected flops, Malayalam cinema continues to surprise audiences and industry watchers alike. Let’s unpack the key box office verdicts and see which films hit gold and which ones couldn’t recover their budgets.

Mollywood Box Office 2026: Top Performers of 2026

Vaazha 2 – Super Duper Hit

The clear champion this year is Vaazha 2, grossing a staggering ₹238.18 crore worldwide (₹129.18 crore in India). With an opening week haul of over ₹55 crore, it’s more than doubled its investment, earning the coveted Super Duper Hit tag.

Bharathanatyam 2 Mohiniyattam – Super Hit

Balancing classical dance with a modern twist, this sequel pulled in ₹40.33 crore globally, securing a Super Hit verdict. Its ₹6.56 crore opening week may have been modest, but strong word-of-mouth fuelled steady growth.

Aadu 3 & Prakambanam – Solid Winners

Both Aadu 3 (₹121.31 crore) and Prakambanam (₹20.86 crore) impressed, each earning a Super Hit tag. Aadu 3’s meme-worthy characters and Prakambanam’s gripping drama resonated well beyond the opening weekend.

Underwhelming Arrivals

Patriot – Major Flop

Despite hype, Patriot mustered only ₹75.7 crore worldwide, losing more than half its budget backers invested. A rocky start (₹10 crore opening day) couldn’t be salvaged, marking it a Flop.

Pallichattambi, Pratichaya & More

Family drama Pallichattambi and thriller Pratichaya also landed in the Flop territory. Other misfires include Sambhavam Adhyayam Onnu, Masthishka Maranam, and Baby Girl, each failing to recover their costs.

Still Running: Dridam

Dridam continues its theatrical run, raking in ₹1.53 crore globally so far. Its final fate remains to be decided, but it’s on track to break even.
